The public is invited for free coffee, rolls and chat beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT, followed by NET Radio’s “Friday Live” broadcast beginning at 9 a.m. CT. Norfolk listeners can tune in on 89.3 FM. The show will also be streamed on NET Radio’s website, netnebraska.org/radio.

“Friday Live” host William Stibor will feature the Norfolk Arts Center’s current exhibit, “Running Water, Rolling Hills,” with artists Rebecca Herman and Christina Narwicz. Executive Director Kara Weander-Gaster also previews the upcoming (River Point) Arts Festival, and Pam Saalfeld from the Norfolk Community Theater will preview the 2011-12 season beginning with one of Neil Simon's most famous plays, “Plaza Suite.” Live music will be performed by the Nebraska Chamber Players (formerly known as the Third Chair Chamber Players) and Eclectic Mayhem featuring local musicians Glenn Woody Henkel and David Chamberlain.

Following the conclusion of “Friday Live,” NET Television presents a screening of “Nebraska Philanthropy: Investing in our Future” at 10:30 a.m. at the Norfolk Arts Center. Join “Nebraska Philanthropy” host Jeff Beckman as NET Television pays tribute to comedy legend Johnny Carson and philanthropists J. Paul and Eleanor McIntosh, Brandon and Tammy Day and others. Guests will get a sneak peek at “Nebraska Philanthropy: Investing in Our Future” before it broadcasts statewide on Sept. 16 on NET1/HD.

Both events are free and open to the public, but reservations should be made to attend the screening. Contact Michele Peon-Casanova at 800.634.6788, ext. 375, or email mpeon-casanova@netNebrask.org by Sept. 6.

“Friday Live” broadcasts weekly from The Mill coffee house in Lincoln’s Haymarket District and occasionally from other locations in Lincoln and throughout Nebraska. Stibor produces the program with associate producer Dave Hughes.
